Renaissance East Midlands training programme
The new workforce development and training programme for 2008/09 is now available, containing information on courses available to all East Midlands museum and heritage staff from voluntary-run museums to larger organisations.

Important amendments to the training programme
1. Page 50 - Creating resources for Interactive Whiteboards, Wednesday 3 June 2009. This course will now be taking place at Boultham Library, Boultham Park Road, Lincoln LN6 7ST and NOT Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre.
This free one day course will review people’s current expertise and experience regarding whiteboards and assess websites finding out who they’re for, what they’re for and how they get information across.
Who should attend: learning and educational staff participating in educational sessions at schools.
2. Page 42 - ABC Workshops. Please note the correct venues for this training on the following dates are:
Wednesday 11 March 2009: The Collection, Danes Terrace, Lincoln LN2 1LP
Wednesday 25 March 2009: The Council Chamber, Newark Town Hall, Market Place, Newark NG24 1DU
3. Page 36 lists courses on the following dates as ‘General Introduction to the National Curriculum Key Stages 1, 2 & 3’.

This is incorrect. Training will take place on these dates at the venues previously advertised, but under the course title of ‘Stronger together: effective partnership working with schools.’ Further details of these courses can be found below. Please note, National Curriculum training on 24 February, 10 March, 19 May and 11 June is running as advertised.
Stronger together: effective partnership working with schools
The course is intended for museum staff whose work involves liaison with schools or the development of educational programmes.
The course will focus upon:
- The shared agendas and aspirations of schools and museums
- The role of the National Curriculum and the framework for Inspection
- The role of Inspiring Learning for All
- Museum best practice and case studies
- How a partnership with schools can work
- Models for partnership
- Action planning
Participants will:
- Have an understanding of the benefits of and imperatives for partnership working with schools
- Be equipped with tried and tested methods for setting up and maintaining partnerships with schools
- Be equipped with tried and tested partnership ideas and activities
- Explore strategies to overcome barriers to partnership development
- Be equipped to start to develop a school / public library partnership
- Share existing good practice
- Plan for action
