Renaissance East Midlands' learning strand aims to support the development and delivery of high quality learning provision across the region for children and young people aged between 0–19 years. Through the delivery of projects and programmes developed from consultation with museum and education professionals, local authority services, children, young people, parents and carers the learning strand strengthens regional provision and strives towards integrated learning practices addressing social, emotional and intellectual development needs.
In recent years Renaissance East Midlands investment has led to an increase in partnership working between museums to develop quality learning resources and shared professional development opportunities. In addition, e-learning web-based learning opportunities have enabled museums to widen provision to all schools in the region.
The Learning Specialist Panel, led by Leicester Arts and Museums Service, meets regularly to drive forward learning activity across the East Midlands. It brings together the expertise and insight of Renaissance staff, key stakeholders, representatives from the wider museums community and specialists from outside the sector. The Specialist Panel recently increased its membership to represent the diversity of museums across the region, which include organisations with a local, regional and national remit, volunteer-led, independent and local authority museums.
