Renaissance East Midlands will be investing in engaging audiences through collections care, management and development.

Renaissance is working with museums, museum users and non-users to ensure that collections reflect the diversity of East Midlands’ people. It is investing in the quality of collections management and by 2008 Renaissance East Midlands will be employing a team of curators, collections access assistants and officers. Renaissance East Midlands is working with the wider museums community to ensure that the region’s collections are managed effectively using the self assessment tool, Benchmarks in Collections Care (more information from the Collections Link website) and will support museums to use new digital technology to enable more people to access collections on and off line. 

The Collections Specialist Panel, led by Derby Museums and Art Gallery, meets regularly to drive forward collections activity across the East Midlands.  It brings together the expertise and insight of Renaissance staff, key stakeholders, representatives from the wider museums community and specialists from outside the sector.
