Museums Libraries and Archives Council is the lead strategic agency for museums, libraries and archives and is funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport: MLA national website

Collections information

One of the best websites to provide a comprehensive range of information on collections is the Collections Link website.  It provides information on storage, digitistaion, copyright, insurance, legal issues and much more.

Learning

Renaissance East Midlands is supporting the Learn with Museums website (funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport and the Department for Education and Skills). Learn with Museums provides a range of lesson ideas and curriculum linked resources for teachers and pupils.  Museums are encouraged to add their own pages, for help to do this contact Bryony Robins, the Renaissance e-learning manager.

Volunteering information

Community Service Volunteers: advice on volunteering and training opportunities – visit the CSV website.

National Association for Volunteering and Community Action (NAVCA): information on training in management, finance, promotion and publicity, and funding. There are 33 NAVCAs in the East Midlands, and you can find a full list of them at the NAVCA website.

VCS Collaborate website: helps to facilitate collaboration within the voluntary and community sector.

Investing In Volunteers: the UK quality standard for organisations which involve volunteers in their work. The Standard enables organisations to review their volunteer management, and also publicly demonstrates their commitment to volunteering.
