Invitation to Tender - Museumaker: Project Director

museumaker logomuseumaker is a groundbreaking collaborative project which aims to unlock the creative potential of museum collections by developing links between the heritage and contemporary craft sectors. Following a successful pilot in the East Midlands, funded by Arts Council England, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Renaissance East Midlands, the project is now rolling out to three further regions – London, South East, North East.

We are now inviting tenders for a Project Director to manage the two-year implementation phase, commencing summer 2008. We are looking for a proven track record of managing large scale projects and the ability to manage complex partnerships. Funding has been secured from Arts Council England and MLA, with other bids pending.

Please see www.renaissanceeastmidlands.org.uk for full tender documents, or for further information, contact simon.ighofose@leicester.gov.uk.

Deadline for tenders: 12 noon Friday 24th April 2009 by post.

Tender documents attached:
Museumaker: Project Director - Invitation to Tender (506 kb) [doc]
Appendix A - museumaker publication 2007 (2379 kb) [pdf]
Appendix B - Supporting Information (418 kb) [doc]

If we receive any questions relating to these documents, we will post the responses on this website, ensuring the same information is available to all.

Q1: Could you confirm that the extent of the information that you require as part of the tender at this stage is contained within section 5 and 6 of your documents i.e. Business Questionnaire and Form of Tender? My reading of the documents suggests that these documents provide the guide to the written element of the procedure whilst the other documents are for context and background information.

A1: Your understanding is correct and it is only Sections 5 and 6 (and documents requested within these sections) which are to be completed and submitted. Please refer to Part Two - "Instructions to Tenderers" Section 4.1.2 where the items required are listed.

Q2: Could you clarify what the procedure will be once the tenders have been received? Will there be a shortlist of tenders and then interviews, what might be required at interview?

A2: Any interview will be for clarification purposes only (ie: not an opportunity to supply new information to supplement the tender). All necessary information about bidder's capabilities and proposals for delivering the service should therefore be included in their tender submission.

Q3: Does the advertised fee of £60,000 across the two years include expenses, or are there extra monies to cover these or certain categories of these?

A3: Yes, the advertised fee of £60,000 is fully inclusive.

Q4: Within the period of the contract are there a certain number of days that you would expect the Tender to cover, or is the freelance post considered full time?

A4: I do not expect the post to be full time but that we are paying for the number of days stated to deliver the project. Any applicant may well undertake other projects etc during the duration of museumaker
